this is the parent birds sitting side by side (for the first time that we'd noticed) the night before the female was found dead.  the male parent was found dead the next day.  the state entomologist feels that the cause of death was likely "bad" rodents-decon or otherwise.  surprisingly the younger birds survived and stayed around for about 2 weeks before disappearing.
